Test connectivity to Replication Server
Overview
With this feature you can check the connectivity from the backup server to the replication server. It also checks the various settings in the replication server to identify if the backup server can replicate to the replication server.
Test connectivity to Replication Server
This feature checks for the following:
DNS lookup - It checks if the backup server can resolve the replication server's hostname (FQDN). If this check fails, then check the DNS server in the backup server's network and make sure there is an entry for replication server's hostname. If the replication server has a static IP then try using that IP instead of the hostname.
Telnet & Ping - It checks if the backup server is able to reach the replication server. If this check fails, make sure the replication server is online and is running on it. Also make sure that the firewall on both the backup server and the replication server side allows TCP/IP traffic from backup server to the replication server.
Server Type - This checks if the server connected to is a backup server or a replication server.
Edition and Version - It checks the compatibility of editions/versions running in the backup server and the replication server. Backup server running SP edition cannot replicate to a Replication Server running Pro Edition and vice versa. Backup server running a higher version of cannot replicate to a replication server running a lower version of . For example, v3.1 backup server cannot replicate to a replication server running v3.0.
-
Authentication - This checks if the backup server is authenticated with the replication server. If a password is configured in the replication server, then you need to authenticate the backup server with the replication server from the 'Server Admin -> Replication Management -> Authenticate Backup Server for Replication' page.
