Migrating Clients
Overview
by default groups the clients (under auto authorization mode only) when they first backup to the Server under the Default Reseller's Default Customer. After the initial backup is complete, you can move the client under the specific Reseller and its customer.
Migrating Clients
supports seamless migration of a client grouped under one customer to another customer. You can even move a client from one Reseller's customer to another Reseller's customer. Please note that client migration doesn't move the backup data from its present backup location.
The steps to follow for moving a client from one customer to another are given below:
Step 1: Select the Reseller name (from which the clients are to be migrated) from the select box named 'Rseller Name' on the left hand side.(i.e Migrate from). When you are logged on as a user with Reseller access, this option is pre-selected as the Reseller associated with the user.
Step 2: Select the Customer Name from the select box named 'Customer Name' on the left hand side
Step 3: All the Clients under the customer(selected in the previous step) will be listed. Note that by default all the clients' will be checked. (i.e all the clients under this customer will be migrated).
You can also select particularly the clients you wish to migrate. Check the clients, you wish to migrate.
Step 4: Select the reseller name (to which the clients are to be migrated) from the select box named 'Reseller Name' on the right hand side.(i.e Migrate to). When you are logged on as a user with Reseller access, this option is pre-selected as the Reseller associated with the user.
Step 5: Select the customer to which the clients to be migrated from the select box named 'Customer Name' on the right hand side.(i.e Migrate to). Incase if you wish to migrate to a new customer, first add the customer by clicking on "Server Admin->Reseller Management->Add New Customer" Action icon for the particular Reseller. Then proceed with the above steps.
Step 6: Press the migrate button to initiate the migration. The migration should finish in a few seconds. Note if any of the clients' are active, (Backup, Restore, Delete, Replication is in progress) that particular client cannot be migrated.
Troubleshooting Tips
Limitations
If Clustering is enabled in the backup server, then you will not be able to migrate a client if it is (or the client's parent Customer or its parent reseller) node locked to one cluster node and the Customer to which the client is to be migrated is node locked to a different cluster node.
