Add MCALs

Overview

MCALs are monthly client licensing units that are added in the backup server and the client machines consume the MCALs on monthly from the backup server as they backup to the server. From this page you can add/update your MCAL credits in the backup server.

How to get here in the Web Console?
In the top menu, select: "Server Admin -> License Management" and click on the "Add MCALs" icon on the left side.

Add MCALs

For a backup server to accept backup from clients (other than trial clients), the backup server has to be added with MCAL credits. You can add as many MCAL key to a server as required. The number of MCAL credits in a server will be cumulative of all MCAL added to the server. MCAL keys are based on the following:

  • User Name: This is the unique name provided while generating the MCAL key. Normally, this name is auto-generated based on the customer/service provider with backup server name added to make the key unique.

  • MCAL Key: Enter the 16-digit MCAL Key as provided in the Email. It is suggested to copy and paste the MCAL details from the MCAL license to avoid any typo errors.

  • Number of MCALs: The number of MCAL licenses supported by the key is embedded in the key itself. This value has to be correctly entered while adding the MCAL key to the backup server.

  • Verification Code: This is a random code used while generating the MCAL key. This random code has to match what is embedded in the MCAL key.
