Add a New Client For a Customer (in the StoreGrid Server)
How to get here in the StoreGrid Web Console?
In the top menu, select: "Server Admin->Customer Management" and click on the "Add Client" icon (in the action columns) in the row corresponding to the customer under which you wish to add the client.
From this page you can add a new client under a customer and configure the backup space, backup location and an optional password for the client (backing up to this server).
If you have enabled Auto Authorization for this customer, then you don’t really need to add clients manually. Your customer can add clients and StoreGrid automatically adds clients to the server whenever the clients backup to the server. However, if you have disabled Auto Authorization for this customer or if you’d prefer to set disk space & password individually for each client of your customer(s), you can add the client from this page.
Server Name - A non-editable field displaying the name of this StoreGrid server.
Customer Name - A non-editable field displaying the name of the customer.
Client name - You should input the StoreGrid ID of the client that will backup to the server. Note that this StoreGrid ID should exactly match the ID the client will use to identify itself. So make sure, the client uses the correct StoreGrid ID when he/she installs the StoreGrid client.
Backup Location - This field is used to set the backup location where the selected client's backup data needs to be stored. You can edit this directory location either manually or by selecting the backup location from the directory tree by clicking the button provided at the end of the text box.
Space Allotted - This field is used to set the backup space allotted for this client. The space allotted can be given either in GB or MB or TB by clicking the appropriate button. By default, the total backup space configured to the Group will be used on a “first come, first served” basis with any new client backing up to this server.
Password - If you are manually adding the client to the server, and Auto Authorization is disabled for this customer, then you need to provide a password for authorizing the client with this server. The client should be given the StoreGrid ID and the password and the StoreGrid client should authorize itself once with this password (the one you set here) before the client is allowed to backup to the server.
Bandwidth Throttling - StoreGrid's Bandwidth Throttling feature enables the user to limit the bandwidth usage for a backup schedule. Bandwidth can be configured at the backup server level, customer and client levels.
Use customer's configuration/Use server's global configuration - If the option Yes is selected, then the bandwidth throttling for the client will be set as per the setting of the customer or if there is no specific setting for the customer, then as per the backup server setting. If the option No is selected, then you can setup bandwidth throttling specific to this client by entering the following details:
Enable bandwidth throttling for this client - Choose to enable or disable bandwidth throttling.
Throttle bandwidth always - Choose this option to enable bandwidth throttling throughout the day.
Throttle bandwidth from - Choose this option to enable bandwidth throttling only during the specified hours of the day.
Throttle each backup to maximum of - The rate to which bandwidth should be throttled.
