Licensing in StoreGrid

StoreGrid licenses are required only for the client installations backing up to the Backup Server. A Client Access License (MCAL) is a license unit that allows a client to backup to the StoreGrid backup server. You simply need to purchase Client Access Licenses (MCALs) from us which will be credited in to your Customer Zone account. You can add these MCALs to your Backup server as required, by generating MCAL license keys in your Customer Zone account. Client Access Licenses (MCALs) are then consumed from the backup server every month.

• A Windows Vista machine backing up files/folders will consume 1 MCAL every month in the backup server.
• A Windows 2003 Server backing up Exchange Server will consume 4 (2+2) MCALs per month.
• A Windows 2008 Server backing up Exchange Server and Exchange Mailboxes will consume 5 (2+2+1) MCALs per month.
