Instructions for Applying v4.1 upgrade in Windows Client running v4.0 StoreGrid
Applying manually
Download the patch exe file VembuStoreGrid_4_1_0_CO_4102011121519.exe. You DON'T need to download the configuration file (this is only meant for automatic updates of clients from backup server).
Double click the exe file and follow the instructions to apply the patch.
Applying through StoreGrid Automatic Software Update feature
At the Backup Server
Download the 'Client Only' patch and the 'Client Only' patch Configuration File. PLEASE ENSURE THAT YOU SELECT THE CORRECT PATCHES (there are separate tables for Branded Builds and for Generic Non Branded Builds).
Save the 2 files (patch file and the xml file) in any folder in your backup server.
Add the patch in the backup server so that it is available for the clients to download by going to the "Server Management -> Software Update -> Add Builds" page. You will need to provide the "Build File(s) Location" as chosen in Step 2 and then click on "List Build Files". Select the patch that you have added and click the 'Add Build Files' button.
NOTE: If you have a 'mixed deployment', i.e., some clients running branded builds and some clients running generic builds, simply download the patch and configuration files for 'Client Only' builds for both types (Branded & Generic), i.e., 4 files in all! Then follow Steps 2 and 3 to add the two patches to your backup server. Your clients will automatically download and install the appropriate build (see below). In fact, the configuration file is exactly for that purpose - to ensure that the client gets the appropriate patch.
At the Client
Ensure that automatic software updates have been configured at the client system (through the "Settings -> Advanced Options -> Software Update Configuration" page); this feature was introduced in v2.3
The client will automatically download the patch build from the configured backup server and update itself.
